Speedrunning is the art of trying to complete a game as fast as possible. Many speedruns utilize various types of glitches, skips, and exploits but not all speedruns do.
Overview[edit]
Categories[edit]
Each game may have a number of different types of speedruns, called categories. Categories define rules for which someone must follow when attempting to speedrun the game in that category.
Category | Description |
---|---|
Any% | Complete the game by any means. This category usually has the fewest rules. |
100% | Complete the game in its entirety. What the entirety of the game means will change per game. |
Low% | Complete the game at the lowest experience possible with the least amount of equipment and items obtained. |
Speedrun categories can be broken down further with modifiers. These set specific rules on top of the global rules required by the main category chosen. Modifiers may be very specific to a game. Modifiers may specify rules which call for the run to end before the end of the game, these are called a partial categories.
