The pit fighters are the inhabitants of the prison that are the Pits of Carnage in Ultima Underworld II.

Description

These fighters were of vastly different professions and of both genders. They all shared the same trait that at first they were highly mistrustful of the Avatar and openly tried to goad the hero into a duel, not knowing of the hero's power due to a lack of reputation. However, once acquitted in combat, these fighters showed the Avatar proper respect. Additionally, while the warriors now openly offered the Avatar training with axes and maces free of charge, the mages were helpful in giving information about the pits and the arenas.

Trivia

• There also are goblins and trolls who conduct themselves similarly, but are not listed here due to being a different species altogether.
• The male mage portrait is Nelson’s portrait, flipped and color changed. The portrait of the rogue is Zogith’s portrait without his cloak.
