Graesh is the torturer in the Palace of Blackthorn in Ultima V: Lazarus.

Graesh was the Captain of the Black Guard, the head of the former Black Company, which was now responsible for providing Blackthorn's personal security at his palace. She had once been one of the liege's elite guards, following him from town to town on his missions. She felt most of the members had been noble warriors, except for the miscreants Kurtz, Foulwell, and Gallrot. Graesh noted that the castle was not what she had expected prior to her arrival, and that the place seemed somehow evil. It seemed to have the power the change the weak of will, somehow corrupting the cook and jester.[1]

Graesh despised the simpleminded Kurtz, disgusted at Blackthorn's habit of employing large, kind, simpleminded individuals as jailers, feeling he was a miscreant who had no right to travel with Blackthorn. She felt he was smart enough to never purposely allow a prisoner to escape though, and Blackthorn had promised Graesh that the jailer's life would be forfeit should he do so. Foulwell, a former bard with the Black Company especially frustrated Graesh, for his songs had turned into deceptive tricks within a short time of his arrival on the island. Graesh also mentioned how Gallrot had been employed as the camp cook, a competent one at that, but he was a meek man of subservient nature and it was only through Blackthorn's will that he was not taken advantage of. Upon arriving on the island, Gallrot had soon turned dark and angry.

Should the Avatar free Gorn from the jails, the hero could choose to blame Kurtz for the crime, could take personal responsibility, or could deny all knowledge of the crime taking place. If Gorn were in the Avatar's party, Graesh would demand the hero kill the barbarian, and failing to do so, would attack the Avatar's party.[2]

Should the hero convince Kurtz to free a prisoner, the hero could report to Graesh the impending jailbreak.[3]
