Desiree is the kitchen girl of Castle Britannia during Ultima V.

Description[edit]

When she met the Avatar, Desiree spoke of how she helped her grandmother Margaret with the meals, complaining how much the guards were eating. She further added that nothing was worse than Lord Stuart the Hungry, revealing that he was working on the spell Create Food to still his never-ending hunger.[1]

Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Desiree was a sweet disarming child of about fourteen. She told the Avatar how she helped her grandmother Margaret in the kitchen, clearly proud of her work, and how she had been allowed to work in the castle with her grandmother Margaret after the death of her parents when she was young. She complained that she and her grandmother had to work hard in the kitchens because the guards ate a lot, but not as much as Lord Stuart the Hungry, mentioning how Lord Stewart traveled from tavern to tavern, eating until he was tossed out. To quell his never-ending hunger, he had even invented a spell to create food, but it unfortunately only produced a small amount of nourishment.[2]

Desiree was saddened by the loss of Lord British, believing him dead because her grandmother said as much. She also talked about her friend Treanna, who she visited regularly down at the stables, and Chuckles the jester, whom she found amusing. Desiree also remarked that Alistair the bard had once sung happy songs, but he had changed with the loss of their king.
