The Ultima Online: Age of Shadows play guide comes with Ultima Online: Age of Shadows. It is 40 pages long.

Like with the previous Ultima Online expansion, this one got a full-color manual as well. Again the page borders are artistically designed and in full color. There are color backgrounds behind the text as well. The font again was specially created and fits with the theme of the game. Surprisingly much lore is actually contained within the manual, especially when the new world of Malas and the new professions are introduced to the player.

The book was translated into several other languages, including: German, French, Spanish, Polish, Japanese, Chinese (for Taiwan) and Korean. The covers of the books in the European market have the colors more shifted to blue, while the covers of the book published in Japan is in monochrome. The special editions released in Japan do have totally different covers.
The inside of at least the European books is different to the U.S. version. There is no color, all is in monochrome. While the font is the same, the text is bigger, thus why the manual has more pages. Content-wise however, they are the same.
