Trenton, from The Ultima 6 Project
Location: Skara Brae

Trenton Bell is the mayor of Skara Brae in Ultima VI. He is a petty, pretentious man who had earned the disapproval of many living in in Skara Brae. He seemed to shun all forms of physical labour, and looked down upon those who toiled for gold. Gideon, Stivius, and Yorl all spoke poorly of the mayor. Although, he is not entirely useless as he is able provide information about the rune of Spirituality as well as its mantra.

Description[edit]

Trenton told the Avatar that Quenton had been in charge of the rune, but assumed its location could not be discerned with Quenton's death. Trenton felt Quenton had resented his position as mayor of the spiritual people of the island. He assured the hero the people of Skare Brae were not ones to raise arms against another, due to their strong belief in non-violence. He was unwilling to tell the hero the mantra of Spirituality, preferring to make the hero read it from the many books that dotted the island.

Trenton was more than willing to accept that Gargoyles must have killed Quenton, and could not be bothered to investigate the issue thoroughly. Even though Trenton knew from his brother that worked at Castle Britannia that the Gargoyles usually killed their victims loudly and gracelessly, he did not find it sufficiently odd that nobody heard any noises during Quenton's death.[1]

The Ultima 6 Project[edit]

This is an Ultima 6 Project-related NPC article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima VI or other Ultima games.

In The Ultima 6 Project, when specifically queried about Quenton’s death, the mayor felt it must have been an attack by Gargoyles and not the work of human hands. His reasoning was all citizens of Skara Brae were too in touch with their humanity to commit such a heinous act. He was also still unwilling to re-open the case after the Avatar had gathered further evidence, much as his brother, who worked as the Gate Guard in Britain, said that Trenton would.

When asked about the way to the Shrine of Spirituality, the mayor said that Horance should know more about it.
