The Book of Forgotten Mantras is a publication appearing in Ultima VI and Ultima VII.
The Book[edit]
This book contains many mantras that have fallen out of circulation and became, as the book title states, mostly forgotten. During the Gargoyle War, the wisps showed interest in obtaining the information contained within the book. After the Avatar found an issue of the book in the library of the Lycaeum and gave it the wisps, the beings rewarded the Avatar either with information or as much gold as the group could carry (which was a lot).
Two more issues of the book could be found in the time of Ultima VII in the abandoned fortress in the Deep Forest and in the Shrines of the Principles on Terfin.
Trivia[edit]
- The book was called The Lost Book of Mantras in Ultima VI and contained quite different mantras.
- Several mantras in the Ultima VI and the Ultima VII versions, such as “Zowie”, “Meow” and “Blah”, are difficult to take seriously, and probably fell into disuse for that reason.
