Alter ego

While I understand the reasoning behind the theory, I wouldn't be so quick to attribute this character to being another of Richard Garriott's. To me, he looks far more like Richard's brother Robert:

Tough to say for sure either way, but I'd be curious to know what others think.

So, um... now I don't think it's either Robert or Richard Garriott. Here's a photo of Dallas Snell from the July 2, 1993 Origin newsletter:

With the striking resemblance and name (especially in light of Richard Sherman and Greg Duprey), this now seems as close to certainty as we could get. --Terilem 09:45, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

I went crazy and got direct validation that it is based on Dallas Snell. "Well my memory is a little fuzzy from that long ago, but the character was most likely based on me. As head of product development at Origin for many years, I was often included in various cameo roles in our products. The portrait of the Dallas Garrett character on the ultima.wikia site is exactly what I looked like in the early 90's, brownish-auburn hair and well-groomed beard." I know he only said "most likely" but that is good enough for me. Good enough to change it from "appears to be" to "is". -- Fenyx4 20:45, September 21, 2010 (UTC)
