Swindrik is a mage who lives in Trinsic during the time of Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
A tall man, Swindrik proudly claimed to cast spells of great power, and would ask if the Stranger did the same. Swindrik would also quiz the hero as to the most powerful of the reagents, and upon being told that it was mandrake, the wizard would advise the hero to inquire about the root at the Folley Tavern.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), Swindrik can be identified as a druid in the Lycaeum library, who gives similar information. Instead of directing the Companions to pub, he sends them straight to Calumny.[2]
- In the novelization of Ultima IV in Ultima: The Avatar Adventures, Swindrik (whose name is misspelled as Sendrick) is described as an obnoxious mage with a grating, nasal voice, positioned behind the poison fields as Virgil is in the original game. It is noted that he seems disappointed when the Stranger dispels one of his fields, as though the hero had somehow spoiled his fun.[3]
