Sprite is a poor beggar asking for alms outside of Britannia Manor in Britain during Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
Severely destitute and in need of food, Sprite claimed that she had not eaten in a week and that she had no job by which she might feed herself. Should the Stranger take pity on her condition and agree to assist her, the hungry pauper would tell the hero that Pepper knew of the Rune of Compassion.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the novelization of Ultima IV in Ultima: The Avatar Adventures, Sprite is re-imagined as a young girl who encounters the Stranger in the middle of the night. While the girl's mother is described as living in a "rough hut", Sprite is never mentioned as being a beggar or as suffering from any of the effects of poverty or starvation.[2]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), Sprite's spot has been filled Bob the Beggar, who lived in Minoc in the original game. Sprite herself could be identified with the injured person at Wound Healing, as she still talks about runes.[3]
