Sinjen is a fighter in Yew in Ultima VI.
Description[edit]
The Avatar met Sinjen locked up in the stockade in Yew. Sinjen claimed that he chose to be locked up, so that he could experience a new perspective on life. He wanted life to move around him, so that he could stand still and contemplate the meaning of life. By the time the Avatar met Sinjen, he was looking for a way to escape from the stocks, and believed that Lenora took her idea of justice too far. He jokingly told the Avatar that he preferred Mandrake's take on the Virtues.[1]

In The Ultima 6 Project, Sinjen goes on to explain how he viewed Mandrake’s Eight Virtues, and their relationship to the principles of Wine, Women, and Song. He can not be freed from the stocks.

Trivia[edit]
- Sinjen is based upon an Amtgard player who assumed the selfsame persona in the organization's former Grand Duchy of Barad Duin, where Ultima VI writer Dr. Cat and artist-writer Manda Dee (Penumbra) also participated and, like Richard Garriott with the Society for Creative Anachronism, portrayed many of its members as characters within the game. Sinjen would become ruler of Barad Duin early in the realm's reformation as a chapter of the offshoot High Fantasy Society, and received a knighthood for combat and service several years after the end of his reign.[2][3]
