Scally is a bard living on Buccaneer's Den during the events of Ultima V.

When the Avatar met him, Scally showed himself to be quite convinced of his own skill. In his songs, he spoke of a former pirate named David. Asking about him, the Avatar learned that David, besides being nasty, also had invented a tool for navigating the seas: the sextant. Sadly, Scally had no idea, where David was now, speculating him to be keeper of a lighthouse.[1]
With this information, it was possible to go to Greyhaven and get the sextant from David.[2]
Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

In Ultima V: Lazarus, the flamboyant bard proudly introduced himself as the one and only “Bard of Buccaneer's Den”. He was also proud of this lute, and noted it was made by a master craftsman.[3]
Scally was willing to sing the hero a number of ballads, including the “Ballad of Crotchety David,” which told the tale of how the sailor David had always been an angry man, disliking all the people of Buccaneer's Den. Then one time he disappeared for a year, working on some invention involving the moons and the stars, and upon its construction, he returned to brag of his invention, the sextant. He became so drunk at the bar, and somehow caught his beer on fire. The angry seaman swore to leave Buccaneer's Den, and never returned.[4]
His “Ballad of Thorkin the Mighty” poked fun at the the blacksmith Thorkin, telling tall tales of his daring and bravery, which embarrassed the strong but shy blacksmith to no end. His tale of how Thorkin saved the crew of the Crimson form Herrick the traitor was entirely fictional.[5]
Scally's “Pirates’ Ballad” and “Smuggler’s Ballad” glorified the professions of Buccaneer's Den, and “The Battle of Buccaneer's Den” told how the pirates from the Den chose to fight against Blackthorn’s army led by the pirate Herrick when the reagent tried to take control of the island, preferring death to slavery. During the battle, a traitor destroyed Seggallion’s ship the Ashtarlea’s Breath. The pirates managed to push back Blackthorn's men despite the appearance of the Shadowlords, and Buccaneer's Den remained free.
Scally knew nothing of Enlor’s apprentice Alfred,[6] but told the Avatar to speak to other citizens of the town.
