Modified scene in the alternate ending

It is not widely known that Savage Empire has an alternate ending.

The Ending[edit]

If the Avatar chooses Tristia, Aiela's adoptive sister, as his love, the ending changes slightly. in that it Tristia instead of Aiela the Avatar says farewell to. However, the Avatar then comes to regret his decision to chose Tristia, since Aiela's emotional farewell is replaced by a much colder scene with Tristia, where she fully displays her personality. She tells the Avatar she's not sad to see him leave, since she already has seduced a warrior named Botorok, claiming he's better than the Avatar in every way.

Technical Problems[edit]

However, the ending is not widely known, since version 1.6 of the game, the retail version which also is available on GOG, has a bug that does not allow the Avatar to declare his love to Tristia. As a result of that broken dialogue tree, it is impossible to see the alternate ending of the game.

This bug was fixed in version 2.1., which however was not widely distributed. It is possible to update the game using Pix Ultima Patcher found at Pix's Origin Adventures.

Trivia[edit]

  • Chosing Tristia also does have in-game consequences when it comes to Aiela, since she either becomes quite condesending to the Avatar over Tristia, or, if the Avatar declares his love for Tristia before freeing Aiela, refuses to join the party entirely (though the Avatar still gets the gem and learns to unite the tribes).
