Palin is a carpenter in Yew in Ultima V: Lazarus.
Palin had begun his life as a simple woodcutter, but during a logging accident, which he blamed on magical causes, his leg was injured and he was forced to walk with a limp the rest of his life. This incident caused him to harbor a life-long anger towards Madam Pendra and the druids, feeling that the old lady had used forest magic to cause his injury, and that she had purposely failed to heal his broken leg afterward.[1]
Palin readily admitted that Blackthorn's regime had been good for his business, since the Oppression had lifted the restrictions on harvesting yew wood previously imposed by Lord British. He admitted some of his best clients were Oppression members and their deep pockets, commenting that he had personally given Judge Dryden a carved yew sculpture as thanks. Palin also served as the chief supplier of wood for Oreste the shipbuilder in Britain, and Gwenno at Iolo's Bows.
