In Ultima Underworld the corpse of the unnamed friend of Naruto can be found in the pit spider area of the seventh level of The Abyss.

Very little is known about Naruto's friend, not even his name. It can be presumed that he was a fellow human mage from the sixth level, but that is pure speculation.
What is known, according to Naruto, is that he was killed by a spider and that he carried a key that opened an entrance located in the chasm of fire. This entrance lead to a place where one could obtain an item that that permits one to pass through Tyball's maze. How he came by this key, and what he planned to do with it, are unclear.
The friend met his end in the area of the pit spiders in the west side of the seventh level, just a ways north of where the Avatar encounters Naruto. Found at the far end of a small a cavern are a skull and a pile of bones, both unidentified, and a key. The key is described as "This key seems to have been carved from a bone."
