Magdalena is the tavernkeeper at the Crystal Chalice in Trinsic in Ultima V: Lazarus.
A kind and boisterous woman, Magdalena was quickly willing to assist the Avatar in all his needs. She immediately told the Avatar that she was the city's only baker, and even though the Crystal Chalice served as the local tavern, she mainly considered herself a purveyor of baked goods. After her father died fighting Blackthorn, and her mother passed away three years ago, Magdalena had inherited her shop, and decided to run it partially as a bakery since she was more familiar with baking than running a tavern. Magdalena told the Avatar that most of the local paladins chose to eat at home, but bought their goods from her. It was only the local guards who ate at her establishment, and she felt they were mostly an okay lot because Blackthorn had strongly dissuaded drunkenness and licentiousness.[1]
She was familiar with Jimmy and his illness, asking the Avatar to talk to him about ships to cheer him up. Magdalena had little love for Mayor Ellison, saying he would allow few people to leave Trinsic, and even kept Jimmy locked up in the city as a hostage, so he could force Woolfe to continue to work for him. She hoped Blackthorn's ships rotted at sea before they ever managed to take Serpent's Hold, upset by the loss of many of her friends and family during the siege of Trinsic.
Magdalena was quickly willing to help Hettar supply food for the defense of Serpent's Hold.[2]
