Lord Michael is the lord of Empath Abbey during the events of Ultima V.
Description[edit]
Lord Michael told the Avatar that the three castles of virtue were opposed to Blackthorn's regime, and the Shadowlords were not able to enter them, not even the lord of hatred. When the Avatar asked about that particular Shadowlord, Michael recommended to seek out Sin'Vraal, the gargoyle living in the Drylands for this matter.[1]
After being told by Bidney of Buccaneer's Den that Lord Michael had his grapple, the Avatar returned and asked Lord Michael for it. Michael was willing to give it to the Avatar, since he was not expecting to do much mountain climbing, telling the Avatar of the grapple's limitations.

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Lord Michael told of how Lord Blackthorn still visited the Abbey from time to time, trying to convince him to join his cause. Lord Michael in turn tried to show Blackthorn the error of his ways. It was only Blackthorn's time spent at the Abbey in his youth that prevented him from directly storming the keep.[2]
Lord Michael tasked the Avatar with seeking out Sin'Vraal in the Drylands and provided him with a copy of the book Love and Virtue,[3] rewarding the Avatar with a bottle of Abbey wine upon returning.
After speaking with Bidney about the grapple,[4] the Lord mentioned that he used to go mountain climbing in his youth, and during one of his expeditions he encountered Bidney and rescued the poor man. He willingly gave the Avatar the grapple.
