Harpy, from Ultima VII manual | |
First appearance: | Ultima VII |
Last appearance: | Serpent Isle |
Harpies are the result of pseudo-magical experiments.
Description[edit]
Human women were crossed with birds, resulting in women with oversized wings and birdlike talons. As if this weren't disturbing enough, harpies generally disdain wearing any clothing. The trauma of the experimentation done to them has apparently driven them to madness, although some base form of intelligence (or instinct) still guides their actions and they are still capable of speech, having been observed barking orders in battle and cursing at their enemies. They prefer to attack their foes with the razor-sharp talons on their feet, making them formidable enemies.
Harpies can be found in dungeons as well as in the wilderness, mostly near mountains.
Lore[edit]
“ | This half human, half bird creature nests in mountainous caves. It attacks from the air with the sharp talons on its feet. |
---|
“ | This abhorrent cross between human and bird is as vile in behavior as it is in appearance. Harpies favor an attack from the air, seeking to utilize their hawk-like talons. |
