Gnu Gnu is a merchant in Ultima: Runes of Virtue and Ultima: Runes of Virtue II.
Description[edit]
In Runes of Virtue, Gnu Gnu could be found in Britain, and told the hero he was selling his stock in an attempt to purchase a pet dragon. Although his success in this endeavor was never made clear, Gnu Gnu could again be found in Britain in Runes of Virtue II selling basic supplies to adventurers. On both occasions he would encourage the Avatar's companion to race him to his store, a contest he would always win by use of teleportation devices.
Trivia[edit]
- Gnu Gnu's counterpart in reality is Gary Scott Smith, a designer-programmer for both Runes of Virtue installments. The character is named after a rapidly-spoken gnomish companion in Origin's 1989 adventure-RPG Tangled Tales: The Misadventures of a Wizard's Apprentice, which Smith also designed.[1]
