Garritt is the son of Feridwyn and Brita, the couple which operates the Fellowship-sponsored homeless shelter in Paws in Ultima VII.

During the time of the Avatar's adventures in Ultima VII, Garritt appeared to have moved to Paws recently with his parents - having previously hailed from Britain, where his father, Feridwyn had been employed as a top level Fellowship recruiter.[1] The young man proved less than enthused with his new surroundings, and spoke disparagingly about both the hamlet and the impoverished residents of it - claiming that he echoed the sentiments of his father. If queried, Garritt would affirm an Horatio-Alger-esque belief that the destitute of Paws were in their current plight owing to a failure of character, and would invite the Avatar to opine on the matter.[2] Depending on that opinion, he would go on to either commend or insult the hero.
While not yet old enough to have taken a trade, Garritt was a talented musician - devoted to his practice at the panpipes and determined to eventually make a living as a professional flutist.[3] His parents, both of whom regarding Garritt and his talents with doting admiration, appeared to have instilled an arrogance about his skills with their overindulgent praise, and the boy proved not at all modest.[4][5] He had a marked and vehement disdain for "traditionalists" such as Camille, and carried on ongoing grudge against her son Tobias - the only child of comparable age to him in the town.
Eventually, Garritt's selfish prejudices spilled over into crime, and the youth stole a vial of silver serpent venom from the merchant Morfin, endeavoring to frame Tobias for the crime by planting the drug in the other boy's possessions. Should the Avatar agree to investigate the crime, the hero would eventually be able to deduce the fraud through Garritt's visible hyperactivity,[6] caused by the venom and the presence of an additional vial found among the boy's possession. The champion of virtue could then decide how to handle the miscreant. Garritt - who claimed that he had stolen the substance to force Camille to join the fellowship in light of her son's criminality - would plead with the Avatar to conceal the theft from his parents.[7] If the hero decided to confront Feridwyn and Brita with Garritt's guilt, the child's father would promise to discipline his wayward son,[8] although Brita proved unwilling to admit her son's wrongdoing.[5]
