Filari are the standard currency of the city of Fawn on the Serpent Isle

Description[edit]

FilariSI.PNG

Filari are accepted only in Fawn and nowhere else, as the Serpent Isle lacks a central government and thus a single currency as well. Filari are the least valuable currency on the Serpent Isle, since their value is based more upon beauty aspects instead of real material worth, being minted from silver instead of gold. Due to this, the currency is not held in high regard by the inhabitants of Monitor, who do not value beauty and dismiss its buying power. Indeed, the pikemen in the Bull Tower mocked the Avatar if it was suggested to pay them in filari, dismissively calling them "little silver coins".

It is difficult to determine the exact worth of a filar, but a pumpkin costs 18 filari.

Exchange Rates[edit]

Main article: Serpent Isle exchange rates

On Serpent Isle, the exchange rates are as follows:

1 Filar = 0.5 gold coins
1 Filar = 0.25 monetari
1 Filar = 0.75 guilders

Lore[edit]

Although I have procrastinated much in preparing this section, hoping to record further development, it seems that our commerce system evolved and stabilized quickly. Our resources show no sign of depletion lo these two centuries. I had hoped to abandon the ridiculous trappings of coinage that were common in Sosaria, but so many others found barter cumbersome. Therefore, I must resign myself to accepting a currency-based system. Regardless, let me now discuss the practitioners of this form of exchange.

...

A port town, Fawn's main sources of income are the various sea-based occupations, including ship building and fishing. The currency accepted in Fawn is called the Filari.

Trivia[edit]

  • The teleport storm at the beginning does exchange something for a stack of filari from Delin’s cash register in the Avatar's inventory.
