Species: human
Appearances
Ultima IV
Description: thief
Location: Vesper
Transcript: Dyka

Dyka is thief living in Vesper during Ultima IV.

Description[edit]

A tall and nimble man, Dyka would freely admit that he made his way in the world "borrowing" the possessions of others, and would go on to talk about his past capers stealing horses from the stables of Paws. Should the hero admit to also living by theft, Dyka would offer a caution about the bull near Paws' horse lots – a warning that was by no means an idle one.[1]

Trivia[edit]

  • In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), Dyka can be identified with the man in white in the same location, who simply says "Hello..." when spoken to. In fact, all the "unfinished infinity" thread was omitted from the remake.[2]
  • In early nineteenth century Thieves' cant, the term "pad borrower" was, in fact, used as an appellation for horse thieves.[3]
