Duncan is a fighter who has traveled to Moonglow in Ultima IX.
Description[edit]
Prior to Ultima IX, Duncan's dagger, a treasured family heirloom, had been stolen by thieves. Duncan sought help in Moonglow. However, the mage Tydus felt that it would be more amusing to send him on a wild goose chase, and so sent him in the opposite direction to the entrance of the dungeon, Deceit on Janus Island.[1]
Upon seeing the Avatar leaving the dungeon, Duncan accused the Avatar of the theft, but the whole matter was cleared quickly and Duncan apologized, cursing as he reasoned that he should not have trusted Tydus, telling the Avatar who that was. He warned the Avatar to beware of the liars in the city.
After retrieving the dagger from the brigand Byron, Duncan mentioned that he was a trainer and would give a free lesson in the second two-handed weapon technique of the spin-shot as reward for the dagger’s return. In addition for a fee of 2500 gold pieces, he would teach the Avatar the third two-handed technique of the low-fake-shot. However, he said that the master of the final technique, Sir William Lett, had died, and his knowledge had been buried with him in an unknown place.
Services[edit]
Duncan offered the following training services:
Weapon Type + Level | New Technique | Cost |
---|---|---|
Two-handed, level 2 | Spin-shot | Duncan's dagger |
Two-handed, level 3 | Low-fake-shot | 2500gp |
Trivia[edit]
- It is possible to provoke Duncan into a fight. However, not only does this mean a loss of karma, but also the loss of any training for two-handed weapons.
