Despise (Ultima V)

Despise is the easiest dungeon in Ultima V: only weak monsters inhabit it, and it's the only dungeon which has no rooms at all. It is a confusing maze full of pit traps.

There are not any important items in the Underworld below Despise, so it is not necessary to solve it. However, if a ship falls into the Underworld via a whirlpool (either by accident, or to reach the Ararat with Captain Johne), it can be used to return to the surface.

The easy solution for Despise is to just follow the directions below. Watch out for the bomb trap on level 8; if you search that space before entering, the trap will be avoided. Returning to the surface is easier than descending, because only one ladder leads up (compared to the many fake ladders leading down).
