Demitry is an animate skeleton who could be found amidst the ruins of Magincia during Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
A thin figure, Demitry spent its days in the remnants of Magincia rattling its bones. It would also tell the Stranger to be wary of the venomous Nate the Snake should he learn the hero was still a creature of flesh.
Should the Stranger have learned from Banter that Demitry knew of the Silver Horn, the hero could ask the restless spirit, which would advise to seek out the lady in waiting of the queen of love and ask her to tell more of the topic.[1]
Demitry's remains were eventually laid to rest upon the fallen city's resettlement, commemorated with a wooden cross the returned Avatar could find within New Magincia's cemetery in Ultima V.
Trivia[edit]
- Demitry sings a part of the African-American spiritual "Dem Bones", a simple song which references the descent of the prophet Ezekiel into the Valley of the Dry Bones.
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV, Demitry can be identified with the singing skeleton almost in the same location. It chants requiem aeternam over and over again. These words are traditionally used in the opening liturgy of a Mass for the Dead. It is a Latin phrase which means "eternal rest".[2]
