Cromwell is a paladin staying in Moonglow during Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
Cromwell could be found at The Honest Inn. A regal man, the warrior claimed to speak as to the virtues of Honesty, and would ask if the Stranger strove toward honest discourse. Should the hero answer in the affirmative, Cromwell would explain the necessity of the mantra of Honesty, and would reveal it: ahm.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- Cromwell is named for the English military and political leader Oliver Cromwell. The Ultima character quotes the politician with his words, "A few honest men are better than numbers!" which references a letter from Cromwell to Sir William Spring in September of 1643.
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), Cromwell can be identified with the paladin just outside the same building. Since the mantras were omitted from the remake, he gives information about the moongates.[2]
