Wearing a cloak

Cloaks are worn over the shoulders and either are made to keep the wearer warm, or just to show status.

Description[edit]

Cloaks never played a massive role in the attire of an adventurer in Britannia, being merely relegated to shows of status, such as the red cloak that the Avatar wore.

On the Serpent Isle on the other hand, cloaks were a very important addition to the armour, since due to the colder climate, winter gear was needed to protect from the cold weather, especially in the far north. Cloaks also played a great role in the customs of Monitor, where each new knight in the process of gaining knighthood gains a cloak from the animal representing the command they are destined for (bear, leopard or wolf).

Variants[edit]

Magic Cloak[edit]

Main article: Magical Repellants

At the time of Minax, magical cloaks existed, which could protect from the paralysis of the arms, but were also destroyed by the act.

Storm Cloak[edit]

Main article: Storm Cloak

A special magical cloak, the Storm Cloak has the ability to negate the magic of everyone in the area if worn, except for that of the wearer. However, prolonged usage would make it vanish.

Trivia[edit]

  • A magic cloak was planned for Ultima VII Part Two, but ultimately got scrapped. The art is still in the game and shown in the gallery.
  • While in Ultima VII a cloak has no armour rating, in Ultima VII Part Two, all have an armour rating of "1".
  • Cloaks made from the skin of Gwani also exist, but one should not use them, as it would offend them greatly if seeing it.
