During the events of Ultima V, Ava is one of the two sisters who care for the Temple of Virtue in Cove.

Description[edit]

Ava will ask the Avatar to make a donation of 5 gp to the Temple, and will thank the hero accordingly. If asked about visions or the Shard of Falsehood, she will direct the hero towards her sister, Leona.[1]

Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Ava was blessed with the uncanny ability to see the past with clarity, and was highly acclaimed amongst the Mystics of Cove. In her youth, Ava, her older sister Leona, and an unnamed eldest sister were left at the steps of the Temple of Virtue, and had refused to be removed from its grounds. The girls grew up at the Temple, and Ava helped care for the Temple along with her older sister Leona, keeping the grounds, and seeking donations for the upkeep of the Temple, so that seekers from across Britannia could come to the grounds and meditate upon the Virtues.

When asked about her visions, Ava was clearly able to describe the history of the Avatar's companions, as well as the hero's victory over Mondain, Minax, and Exodus. She spoke highly of Carolyn, saying Compassion was her greatest Virtue, and also spoke of Jessica and Enlor. She was unwilling to speak of her eldest sister who had sacrificed herself to help save Britannia, saying only that the girl had seen a vision that said she must go see Lord Shalineth, where she would also find her death. Of the two visitors to Cove, Ava saw that Vortigyrn was filled with a burning rage towards Blackthorn, and that Ivar had held a position of great power in the past, lost it, and felt great shame in his fall.[2]

The Ultima 6 Project[edit]

In The Ultima 6 Project, the now matured Ava still tended to the Temple of Virtue in Cove. Her far more normal behavior indicated that she had grown out of the mysteriousness of her youth. She first met the Avatar outside the Shrine of Compassion, tending to a number of injured warriors whom had recently fallen while trying to liberate the Shrine. With the Avatar's help, these men were brought to Sasha the healer. It was there that Leona reached the heroes, telling her sister and the Avatar that the gargoyles have invaded the Temple of Virtue. Ava begged the hero to help liberate the temple.

After freeing the temple, Ava was more willing to speak of her duties, telling how she remembered meeting the hero during Blackthorn’s reign. She felt that many in Britannia had forgotten about the temple, but that the Virtues were still important.
