Ansikart is a winged gargoyle running a tavern in Vesper during Ultima VII and leader of the gargoyle community there.[1]
Description[edit]
Unlike many in the town, Ansikart seemed to be above the racial tension, and managed to win out over the despondent Aurvidlem as leader of the gargish community.[1] While he despaired at the intolerance mankind chose to visit on his people, he did not appear to return it, and praised those such as Lap-Lem who managed to return it with patience and understanding.[2]
Ansikart admitted the mood of the segregated town had worn heavily on many gargoyles, and would describe how Aurvidlem had sunk into depression, and how the brothers Anmanivas and Foranamo had become so antagonistic to the human populace that were banned from crossing into human half of the settlement. He would also speak briefly about the sage Wis-Sur, who had been stripped of his sanity as had all mages in Britannia at that time.[3]
Should the hero end up killing Anmanivas and his brother in self-defense, Ansikart would mourn their loss, although acknowledging that an incident such as this had been long in coming.[3]
Trivia[edit]
- Ansikart translates to "Anti-Dry Master" in Gargish.
- In an earlier draft of the Ultima VII's plot, Ansikart was to have joined the battle with Anmanivas and Foranamo should either of the gargoyle be slain - angry that Gargish blood had been spilled in his establishment.[4]
- In the SNES Port of Ultima VII, Ansikart's dialogue is greatly reduced. He speaks but briefly as his distrust of the Fellowship, mentioning his own dedication to the Gargish Principles.[5]
