In the Seminarium

The Seminarium is the mage school of Moonshade on Serpent Isle in Ultima VII Part Two.

Description[edit]

Young children with mage talents are taught here in the arcane arts, where their discovery of their talents won't cause unwanted property damage. Built into a mountain and at the edge of the city, the young ongoing mages have all the peace they need to listen to their teacher's explanations and conduct their own magical experiments. The school does have a horrible reputation outside of Moonshade in the general population, due to the mages' habit of simply kidnapping children with magical talent, thus ripping families apart.

History[edit]

It is not known when exactly the institution came into being, but the reputation of the child-kidnapping mages was already firmly entrenched by the time the Avatar visited it in Ultima VII Part Two, speaking with the instructor Fedabiblio on the topic of a replacement spellbook. After gaining said replacement book, the Avatar later returned to the Seminarium to solve the case of the missing Edrin. When Shamino the Anarch later laid Moonshade to ruins, the pupils of the Seminarium were lucky and survived the carnage, but the institution lost its purpose in the process.

Lore[edit]

The other, he told me, was Fedabiblio, the headmaster at the Seminarium where mages learn their arts. He said that Fedabiblio was not a bad man, but was still feared and disliked all over Serpent Isle. It falls to him to test each child on the Isle for magical prowess. He brings those that have promise to Moonshade to study at the Seminarium. "He's probably here to escape Freli ," Stefano said. Apparently Freli is a young mage at the school. "I hear Freli has a lot of promise, but at the rate he vexes Fedabiblio, some wonder if he'll ever get out of the Seminarium."
