Emerson is an injured man recuperating at The Mystic Heal in Skara Brae during Ultima IV.

The Stranger could find Emerson laid out on his sickbed. If spoken to, he would relate to the hero his spiritual beliefs, explaining that although he was grievously wounded, the spiritual path he sought was stronger than any material force, and that nothing could bring a man peace but his own triumphs in his own principles.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- Emerson takes his name from the transcendentalist author and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. The character's quote, "Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles", is taken from Emerson's essay Self-Reliance, which extolled the virtues of avoiding conformity in the pursuit of one's own ideals.
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV, Emerson has been replaced by Sebastian from Britain.
