Toran is Tenebraen gem-cutter. His execution features in the opening scenes of Ultima VIII.
Description[edit]
Toran was a man who was vocal in his opinions, and his frankness won him the enmity of Mordea, the reigning Tempest. After openly criticizing her regime, the man found himself arrested, charged with numerous crimes against the state, and sentenced to death by beheading – much to the horror and dismay of his beloved wife, Rhian.[1]
Toran's execution was one of the first acts the Avatar witnessed after arriving on Pagan, and the hero watched as the helpless merchant was not only killed but also prevented from fulfilling his pact with Lithos, as his body was thrown into the Sea of Rains. His son, Torwin, would later be led to a similar fate as he strove to restore his dead father to life, leaving the widowed Rhian devastated with grief.[2][3]
Lore[edit]

Punishment: Death by beheading. |
