This article is based on information RG supplied himself in the March 1986 CGW. I've updated the broken reference link, but here is his own quote from that issue: "In addition, since it will likely still take over a year for a new Ultima to be released, we are discussing plans in the meantime to release an Ultima IV: Part II by next Christmas. A new game, but in the same graphic system."

Found another mention in an online conference he participated in right after the release of U4, which means it was on the cards for at least five months. Still, I'm not too surprised he doesn't remember a project from more than thirty years ago that doesn't seem to have progressed much beyond the initial idea. --Terilem (talk) 09:51, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
