Mordra and Pagan

Now while it is very likely that Mordra was Ultima VII was supposed to be the Mordra mentionned in Ultima VIII - this is never stated specifically in the games themselves, so should we really present it as fact? Especially the thing about leaving Pagan with her brother just sounds like speculation since while she mentions him in Ultima VII, I do not believe there is any mention of Rinaldo in Pagan.

So I'd basically be inclied to have this article rewrote so that it is mentionned that is *implied* that she is Vardion's grand-mother and comes from Pagan rather that makes it a fact --Sergorn 19:30, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

There is a fine distinction between keeping facts straight anf being overly pedantic. And this is the latter, since we get enough information in Ultima VIII that they are the same person. If you only acknowledge things that are presented on the silver platter, then this site would be mostly empty.--Tribun 19:45, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Well, the article could probably do with a rewrite in general. Now, you're right about the part with her and Rinaldo leaving Pagan together -- that's nothing more than an assumption and should be removed. As for her coming from Pagan to begin with... I get where you're coming from, and I'd usually be among the first to call out speculation and over-embellishment, but I'm inclined to say we're okay on this one since there are several pieces of evidence supporting it, not least of all the whole section about Britannia in the U8 manual originating from her. I don't see it in the same regard as the leaps in logic that have been encountered elsewhere on the wiki. --Terilem 04:44, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Besides, as we know, the story of U8 was heavily butchered before final release and many story lines were lost because of it. Further references to Mordra and Rinaldo could've been lost. Pagan was purposefully hinted little by little from U7:BG onwards. Origin couldn't foresee that the target of all those subtle hints would turn out to be unfinished, hence most hints have been left hanging. Rodimus 08:07, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

I've honestly never been convinced that the cut content of Ultima VIII would have had anything to do with the references to Pagan in previouses Ultima games. I mean yeah we would have add extra plotlines such as the invasion of Tenebrae, Tempest magic, perhaps the Avatar becoming Necromancer and things like that - but the world in itself doesn't really feel consistent with the little we learn of Pagan in Underworld II or Serpent Isle. Or in other words, I don't think we would have add stuff about Elerion and the Guardian Palace even had teh game been completed, and I doubt the reference to Mordra would have gone further than that (which is fine by me too) --Sergorn 08:30, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
