"First encountered in Ultima IV, the hydra made a strange mutation to a plant in Ultima VI, before returning to its true form in Ultima VII."
I find this to be an inappropriately presumptuous rationale for the hydrae of U6. Would it not be simpler to accept that hydra can refer to two completely different creatures? --Terilem 14:19, September 3, 2010 (UTC)
- In truth, I think either argument could be made. Ultima games aren't exactly known for sticking to many of the established rules of evolution... or reality. Dungy 14:25, September 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, but this is a needless assumption based on the fact that the two happen to share the same name. In my eyes it's more of the superfluous speculation that we've been trying to weed out. --Terilem 14:33, September 3, 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think so, Dungy. The hydrae of U4 and U7 clearly refer to the mythological creature, while the hydra from U6 is clearly a giant version of the hydra genus. I think it's exactly as Terilem says, two creatures with the same name. There is nothing to suggest that they have any relation. Furthermore, I think that Swamp Plants needs to be changed as well - there's more assumption about this there. --Warder Dragon 14:34, September 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Seems like a fairly logical argument. I guess it wouldn't hurt to clean that up. Dungy 14:38, September 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Done. --Polygoncount 19:03, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
