This is not a very accurate submission. The UO Gateway was not necessarily any better or easier to use. It had, in fact numerous flaws. The primary reason it fell out of use, contrary to allegations of some RunUO conspiracy, is related to the fact that the developer primarily responsible for maintaining UOGateway simply stopped maintaining the website and the software. As a result, the UOGateway program failed to evolve with the emulator software, until it finally became completely incompatible with all RunUO shards except for a handful of shards running on the antiquated and badly flawed RunUO 1.0 emulator. The primary issue here was that the creator and primary scriptor responsible for maintaining the UOGateway software simply lost interest in the project, leaving devoted fans (like the author of the recent post) with no support. It would indeed be nice to see UOGateway revived, if for no other reason than nostalgia, but that is not likely to happen, since the scriptor responsible for the software gave up on it.
