Skullface (surname: Meridid) is an animate skeleton who haunts the ruins of Magincia during Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
The jabbering collection of bones seemed to be oblivious to its own death, and would tell the Stranger that it was a member of the great Meridid family, and that along with its brother, it stood as the last members of this proud and distinguished line. Arrogantly, it would assume that the hero had heard of it and its lineage, and would become dismissive when the Stranger did not recognize its name, insinuating that the hero was probably not from the area.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- Given that Skullface seems completely unaware that it ranks amongst the undead, one may assume that its name while living was actually "Skullface Meridid," perhaps making it somewhat fortunate that no one remembers it.
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (Japanese original), Skullface can be identified with the ghost in the same location. This character was removed in the English localization.
