Silanus is the ghost of one of the servitors of the Guardian, who died attempting to infiltrate the Tomb of Praecor Loth. He appears in Ultima Underworld II.
Description[edit]
Silanus, like many both before and after him, had been sent by the Guardian to retrieve the Horn of Praecor Loth only to fall to the perils of the tomb which housed it. After being scratched by the envenomed blade of a skeletal warrior, he had found that the antidote which he had been carrying had spoiled. Overcome with delirium by the poison, he stumbled into a hidden chamber near the area's waterways and expired there.
A century after his death, the Avatar could encounter his restless ghost as it stalked the passageways of the maze in which he had died. From this spirit, the hero would be able to learn that Silanus had carried a key which would have allowed him to bypass the chambers containing the liches Morphius and Umbria – a prize which had been seized from one of Praecor Loth's fallen ministers. The Avatar could opt to locate his remains and find this key, thus also bypassing two of the crypt's guardians.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In addition to the key, a search of Silanus' remains reveals a backpack, a bow, a quiver full of arrows, a bedroll, a rock hammer, a plate helmet, a scroll of Levitate and six pairs of leeches.
