Shakespeare is a wise wizard living in Moonglow during Ultima IV.

Shakespeare could be found in Margot's apothecary, Magical Herbs. If asked about his work, the magician would explain that he wrote tales to inspire Honesty and would caution that hero should beware corruption and that he is not affect by threats since he is honest.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- Shakespeare's name is taken from that of the famous English playwright William Shakespeare. The Ultima character also quotes two Shakespeare plays in his dialogue. "Remember, there is no terror in threats for I am strong in honesty!" is an adaptation of Brutus' words to Cassius in the fourth act of Julius Caesar and "Corruption wins not more than honesty," is taken from the words of Cardinal Wolsey to Thomas Cromwell in the third act of Henry VIII.
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (English localization), Cosima appears where Shakespeare and Browning would normally be found.[2]
- In the NES remake of Ultima IV (Japanese original), Shakespeare can possibly be identified with man in the nearby building. This character was removed in the English localization.
