The mess hall ghost is one of the six restless undead bound to Skullcrusher in Ultima VII Part Two due to the Imbalance.

Description

While his occupation in life was unclear, him haunting the mess hall hinted he had been working there, and like the other inhabitants of Skullcrusher was murdered when Order troops massacred the populace of the city, in his case being burned alive by them.

When being approached by the Avatar, the ghost cautioned the hero of Vasculio, who had made Skullcrusher his home, saying that the undead vampire was not part of Chaos. Besides confirming the atrocities Order caused in the city, he explained how they were bound to this plane, until the Chaos Serpent was restored. He however warned that they were forbidden to help the hero directly – only indirectly through hints – and that many things they said had such hints hidden. He suggested talking to the other ghosts.

It was only with the Avatar restoring Balance, that he did finally find peace.
