Jeremy James Scirlock is a sneaky thief that could be found in Buccaneer's Den during Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
Jeremy could be found loitering around the vicinity of Hook's Arms. If spoken to, the thief would prove very respectful to the Stranger, putting himself forward as being at the hero's service and offering to assist the adventurer with information. Knowledgeable about the dungeon Hythloth, Scirlock would reveal, when asked, that such a place could be reached by means of a secret entrance located in the great castle, referring to Castle Britannia.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), Jeremy can be identified as a drunk pirate in the pub. Always informed about secret entrances, now he hints at the whirlpool, that connects the sea to Lock Lake.[2]
- A Jeremy James Scurlock appears in the lists of Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) members who have been inducted into the Order of the White Scarf in the SCA’s kingdom of Ansteorra, the same region where Richard Garriott has been known to participate in his persona of Shamino Sallé Dacil. It is possible that the person inspired the Ultima NPC.[3]
