Description[edit]
Hulking brutes of indeterminate gender, the Vesperian guards of the era appear to be individuals of few words, and when spoken to, they only bellow "Ug, me tough!" Should their interest in the Stranger be piqued, they may go so far as to inquire "Ug, thee tough?" although this question does little to alter the course of conversation with them.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- These monosyllabic hulks may be intended as a reference to Ultima II, in which all fighters throughout the game would recite the same phrase, "Ug, me tough!"[2]
- Even though guards in Ultima IV are often assumed to be human, the transcript gives their pronoun as “it”, indicating they are something else.
