Hallo!

I was wondering what people thought about this topic - it seems many (most?) of our walkthroughs are written in an extremely informal style, with little jokes, personal reflections, values and opinions et cetera. I wouldn't mind this on a site dedicated to walkthroughs, for example, but here on the wiki it stands as a sharp contrast to our formal style in the rest of our articles. If it's not okay to describe a character as a dick, douchebag or arrogant jerk in a character article, should it be okay in a walkthrough?

Currently we have no style guide at all for our walkthroughs, so I sort of assumed they'd fall under the all-encompassing umbrella of our regular style guide. What do you guys think? --Warder Dragon 00:59, 25 January 2013 (PST)

Agreed. I see no reason why walkthroughs, cheat articles, and whatever else should not also follow our style guide. After the years we've spent trying to set a respectable, encyclopedic standard, I'd honestly expect better by now. --Terilem 04:50, 25 January 2013 (PST)
I agree as well. I honesty think that it should be just a walkthrough not a kind of place where you fend your own personal opinions, values and all. It is better to stay neutral. --Arthgon 05:00, 25 January 2013 (PST)
I agree maybe 90%. While I don't think it's good to get opinionated about the plot, or say what you think of characters, there is some room for personal opinion in a walkthrough. What is the best way to defeat a boss? What order should plot points be done? What characters make the best party. It's a fine line. But words like "jerk" and "douchebag" 100% don't belong on this wiki. Dungy 05:46, 25 January 2013 (PST)
I would have to concur with Dungy on this matter. The walkthroughs will need to have some level of opinion otherwise they miss out on potential solutions or better tactics. See my Wrong overview. - Iceblade 08:44, 25 January 2013 (PST)

I also think part of the different style is, that unlike things like people and items, which can be written as if it is in a profrssional work, walkthroughs and cheats "speak" directly to the player (as there is little else way).--Tribun 05:49, 25 January 2013 (PST)

I don't see why that means they have to sound like they were written on a forum. Directions for walkthroughs and cheats should still carry a respectable tone. It's not difficult. --Terilem 06:02, 25 January 2013 (PST)
