Cricket is a bard residing in Britain during Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
Clad in bright green and yellow,[1] Cricket was deeply engaged in his performance during the time of the Stranger’s adventures, and proved cross when interrupted. Nevertheless, one of the many children of the city advised the wandering hero to consult him for the mantra of Compassion, and, if pressed, the exasperated songster would reveal that the mantra was mu, hoping that his answer would put an end to the Stranger's inquiries.[2]
Trivia[edit]
- Should the Stranger refuse to leave Cricket alone after receiving the mantra, the bard will threaten to call the guards.[2]
- In the alleged journal of the Avatar discovered by historians Robert de Main and Carlotta Stein, Cricket's voice is described as having a quality as pure and clear as a summer stream.[1]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), Cricket can be identified with the bard in the same location. He will actually perform if spoken to, changing the in-game music.[3]
