Trinkets and merchandise are two fundamentally different things. While trinkets did come with the game as a bonus, merchandise are items one has to buy extra. Thus trinkets are in a sub-category to separate them from the merchandise. Due to being such a big franchise, it was inevitable that the Ultima-series would have some merchandise. While some of it is normal, other items are rather bizarre - with most of the bizarre ones coming from Japan.
