This article is about a character from Ultima VII. For the Ultima VI character, see Amanda.
Amanda is a young woman on a quest for vengeance with her half-sister, Eiko, in Ultima VII.
Description[edit]
Daughter of the mage, Kalideth, Amanda lost her father at a young age when – in a fit of madness – he attacked the cyclops, Iskander Ironheart, and was slain at his hand. Not knowing that Kalideth had been killed in self-defense, Amanda committed herself to the task of avenging his death. After discovering her previously unknown half-sister Eiko, the two siblings trained rigorously under the tutelage of Karenna of Minoc, readying themselves for their pursuit.[1]
The Avatar could encounter the two sisters in the midst of Dungeon Deceit, where they were close to discovering the cyclops. Should the hero find Iskander before them, however, and uncover the truth of Kalideth's end, the sisters could be persuaded to abandon their quest. While Amanda would initially be reluctant to let go of her anger, Eiko would work to convince her that their undertaking was futile, and the young woman would eventually come to accept that Iskander was not guilty of anything more than self-preservation.[2]
Trivia[edit]
- In the face of grief at their father's death, Amanda and Eiko had considered joining the Fellowship in the hopes of gaining direction from their philosophy, although they had not committed to such an action at the time the Avatar met them.[3]
- Due to a bug, Amanda and Eiko normally cannot be convinced to abandon their quest. This was fixed with Ultima VII auf Deutsch and the Ultima VII Nitpickers Delight Patch.
