The orrery viewer is a tool which can be used to remotely observe the great orrery of Moonglow's Observatory. It appears in Ultima VII.
Description[edit]
This viewer was constructed by the Observatory administrator, Brion in Moonglow out of an assortment of crystals – the last of which was furnished by the Avatar after purchasing it from the peddler Addom. Once completed, Brion gave the device to the hero of legend, which allowed tracking the movement of the planets from any place on Britannia, as the impending astronomical alignment drew closer.[1][2]
Thus it was possible for the Avatar to keep track, how close the planets were to aligning.
Trivia[edit]
- In the SNES-port of Ultima VII, the orrery viewer is replaced with a telescope, which can only be used to view the alignment of the planets at night.
