Description[edit]
The massive sentries would tell the Stranger that they often pondered the possibility of giving their lives in the course of their duties.[1] Should the hero prove empathetic to their concerns, they would assert their hope to be able to, if necessary.[2]
Trivia[edit]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), one of these guards can be identified with the guard in the town center, but only in the Japanese original. The other guard can be identified with the injured person in the Lycaeum, who gives the same information about the practice of self-Sacrifice. There appears to be some temporal evolution: the original guard wondered about a future need to give of his life blood, while the guard in the remake already did give of his life blood (since he is injured).[3]
