Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss is the eighth expansion for the 1997 MMORPG Ultima Online. It was released on September 8, 2009
Gameplay[edit]
The expansion introduces the gargoyles as a new playable race, as well as the largest in-game dungeon to date: The Stygian Abyss, which will force an upheaval on the britannian side of the world. It also includes new skills, items, pets, and a home world for the gargoyle race, namely Ter Mur, thus vastly expanding land plots again. Additionally, the expansion introduced the enhanced client, superceeding all other client technologies.
This expansion was announced accidentally on the Japanese Ultima Online website early, before the official announcement was made. Also, development at that point would take longer than expected.
