The transformation spell attempts to change the caster into another creature. It is one of four possible spells randomly picked from a magic amulet, or chosen if the character is a Mage.

Effects

There are three results from this spell, being equally likely based on random chance even if the player is a mage.

Lizard Man

The character is turned into a lizard man, multiplying all attributes and hit points by 250% each time.

Toad

The character is turned into a toad. This lowers all attributes to 3, but hit points remain unchanged.

Backfire

The spell backfires, reducing the character's hit points by half.

Trivia

• The spell name is labelled "Bad??".
• If the character is turned into a toad, three successful transformations into a lizard man will restore stats comparable to starting values. Two more castings would be optimal.
• The Apple II version has its random number generator reset each time the player enters the dungeon, and therefore allows manipulating the spell effect for optimal growth - limited only by magic amulets or gold to purchase them.
